Battery Recall Program

IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Dell is voluntarily recalling certain batteries that were sold for use with some models of Dell Inspiron notebook computers. These batteries aer subject to overcharge, potentially causing them to overheat, release smoke and possibly catch fire. Please note only the described batteries are part of the recall and not the notebook computers themselves.

The recalled batteries were sold with the Inspirion 5000 series notebook computers, comprising both the Inspirion 5000 and the Inspirion 5000e models (see bottom of computer). The batteries were also sold separately - including in response to service calls - for use with Inspirion 5000 series notebook computers. The systems and/or batteries were shipped to customers between Jan. 7, 2000 and March 21, 2001.
