Monitorissasi on itsetestausominaisuus, joka mahdollistaa monitorisi toiminnan tarkastamisen. Jos monitorisi ja tietokone ovat liitetty oikein, mutta monitorin ruutu pysyy mustana, suorita monitorin itsetestaus seuraavien kohtien mukaisesti:
Sammuta sekä tietokoneesi että monitorisi.
Irrota videokaapeli irti tietokoneen takaosasta. Taataksesi kunnollisen itsetestaustoiminnon, poista sekä digitaaliset (valkoinen liitin) ja analogiset (sininen liitin) kaapelit tietokoneesi takaosasta.
Laita monitori päälle.
Irrallinen 'Dell - itsetestaus Feature Check' -valintaikkuna ilmestyy ruutuun (mustaa taustaa vasten), jos monitori ei voi havaita videosignaalia ja toimii kunnolla. LED pysyy vihreänä itsetestaustilassa. Myös yksi alla esitetyistä valintaikkunoista vierii toistuvasti ruudulla valitusta tulosta riippuen.

Tämä ikkuna ilmestyy myös järjestelmän tavallisessa toiminnassa, jos videokaapeli irrotetaan tai se on vioittunut.
Sammuta monitori ja liitä videokaapeli uudelleen; laita sitten sekä tietokone että monitori päälle.
Jos monitorin ruutu pysyy mustana tehtyäsi edellisen toimenpiteen, tarkasta video-ohjain ja tietokonejärjestelmä; monitori toimii oikeanlaisesti.
OSD:n varoitusviestit
Yksi seuraavista varoitusviesteistä voi ilmestyä ruudulle ilmoittaen, että monitori on epätasapainossa.

Tämä tarkoittaa, että monitori ei voi synkronoida signaalin kanssa, jonka se vastaanottaa tietokoneelta. Joko signaali on liian korkea tai matala monitorin käytettäväksi. Katso Monitorin tekniset tiedot saadaksesi tietoa monitorille osoitettavista vaakasuorista ja pystysuorista taajuusalueista. Suositeltava tila on 1280 X 1024 @ 60Hz.
Joskus on mahdollista, että ruutuun ei ilmesty varoitusviestejä, vaikka ruutu on mustana...tämä voi merkitä myös, että monitori ei synkronoi tietokoneen kanssa tai monitori on virransäästötilassa.
