Dell Installed Drives

Dell performs the installation and setup on hard-disk drives that are shipped as part of a system. After being installed, hard-disk drives that are part of a system configuration are formatted and partitioned before the operating system is installed. The drive is ready for use when you receive your system.

Customer Kits

Drives may be purchased and installed separately as customer kits

• The hard drive may be mounted in any orientation (normal position is with PCB facing down)
• Use only screws and mounting hardware provided by Dell for HDD installation
• Install and configure the drive according to the instructions provided in the Dell documentation for your system

Preparing the Drive for Operation

• Use the programs provided with the operating system to partition and format the drive
