Overview

The Philips CDD5263 is slim internal type with 12.7mm height, and is an IDE/ATAPI interface CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. The drive is able to write CD-R/RW discs and also can perform as a regular DVD-ROM drive. The CDD5263 has 8X speed DVD-ROM disc reading, 24X speed CD-R disc writing, 24X speed CD-RW disc writing and 24X speed CD-ROM disc reading capabilities.

  • 8X DVD Disc Reading Speed / 24X CD-R Disc Writing Speed / 24X CD-RW Disc Writing Speed / 24X CD-ROM Reading speed
  • Variable Packet Writing
  • 150 ms Random Access Time
  • IDE/ATAPI interface (compliant to ATA/ATAPI-6)
  • DVD-ROM & DVD-Video (DVD-5, DVD-9, DVD-10,DVD-18), DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD-DA CD-ROM/XA, CD-i, Karaoke CD, Video CD, Super Video CD, Multi-session Photo CD, Enhanced CD, I-trax CD, CD extra, CD Plus, CD-Text, CD-R and CD-RW Discs Compliant.
  • Support Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP Operating Systems.
  • Support Ultra DMA mode 0, 1, 2 Multi-word DMA mode 0, 1, 2 and PIO mode 0, 1, 2, 3, 4.
  • Support Buffer Underrun Protection.

Important Precautions

Precautions

  • Hold the disc by the edges, do not touch the surface of the disc.
  • To remove dust or fingerprint, use a clean, soft & dry cloth.
  • Do not write and paste anything on the recording/ reading side of the disc. Do not paste anything to the all surface of the CD-R/RW disc. Whenlabeling a CD-R/RW disc f or identification purposes, write only on the pre-marked label side using a soft, felt tip marker. Should not paste a large or thick label to the outer back surface (the label side) of the disc, or it generates drive vibration due to imbalance of the disc.
  • Do not store the disc in a place where the temperature or humidity is high.
  • Do not use benzene, thinners and cleaners, etc.
  • Do not make the center hole larger.
  • Do not bend the disc.
  • Do not drop the disc, or subject it to shock.

Installation

Avoid placing the drive in a location subject to :

  • High humidity
  • High temperature
  • Excessive Dust
  • Mechanical vibration
  • Direct sunlight

We recommend using the drive in a horizontal position.


Operation

  • Don't move the drive suddenly from a cold place to a warm one or raise the room temperature suddenly. Condensation may occur, causing abnormal operation.
  • Make sure to remove the disc before moving the drive. The disc may be damaged, causing data loss.
  • Be careful to prevent foreign objects, such as liquids or metal, from entering the drive.
  • Don't interrupt the electric power while the drive is operating.
